"James Jackson, 10, pasted photos in a journal that he took during the first three days of Kritter Kamp and said a wetland walk earlier in the week was the best part of his four days as a camper.
"The walk was hard because I tried catching dragonflies; finally I caught one." James said Thursday. "I learned a lot about egrets, turtles, ladybugs and the life cycle.
"The inaugural Kritter Kamp, held at Barnes Elementary School and designed to teach children about wildlife, included a visit to the school's butterfly garden and crafts such as fish windsocks, stained-glass bugs, food web mobiles and butterfly paper chains."
